Frequently Asked Questions

What is a user?

A user is any person who uses the software. In our pricing plan, a user may log in without limits and all Project and Company alerts will be sent to the user's email address. If you would like additional users to be able to sign in or receive their own alerts we recommend an Additional User account. Additional User accounts are $100/quarter per Additional User regardless of the number of regions. Certain types of users -- like DataBid partners, blog authors -- are exempt from user-based pricing tiers

How does a free trial work?

Free trials provide you with complete access to the DataBid site for five days. You’ll find that the trial period does impose a few temporary limits on the software, like the number of projects you can view. Otherwise, you get the full experience of the depth and breadth of the DataBid software, so you know exactly what you’re getting when you become a DataBid customer.

Do I need to pre-pay?

Yes. All new DataBid  customers need to pre-pay to begin service. We do offer a 5 Day Free Trial to get a feel for the types of features we offer. Plans start as low as $495/quarter.

Do I need to pay for a year up front?

No. DataBid offers a quarterly plan that can be cancelled at any time. Annual subscribers are offered a substantial discount. We’ve found that customers who can commit to a full year of using DataBid will be more successful in the long run. And since your long-term success is our goal, we want to encourage those practices that support that goal. Bottom line: Annual contracts make happier DataBid customers. And we want you to be happy.

What types of Projects will I find in DataBid?

DataBid reports on all Commercial and Multi-Family Residential construction. This includes new buildings, additions, renovations, road work, sewer and water (heavy/highway), supply maintenance contracts and professional consultant services. Contracting methods include: Bids/Quotes/Tenders, Expressions/Letters of Interest, Request for Pre-Qualification, Request for Proposals and Sub Bidding Opportunities; Direct to Owner as well as Gc Sub Bidding.

Does DataBid list projects that are in the Early Design/Planning Phases?

Yes, DataBid's Private reporting team is in constant search of hard to find Private opportunities in the early planning stages and allows you to filter searches to identify projects by: Conceptual/Master Plan, Construction Documents Underway, Design Development, Information/Advanced Procurement, Preliminary or Schematic.

Will DataBid inform me of Bidders Lists, Bid Results and Awards?

Yes, whenever available. We follow up on all projects to inform you of Project Involvement companies (Owner, Architect, Engineer), Meeting Attendees, Plan Holders, Bid Results and Awards. Not all owners release information on all projects but every attempt possible is made to get you the information you need on a timely basis. We understand that timing is everything. No sense in telling you six months from now who won a job, that's why 0ver 80% of all Bid Results are posted on DataBid within 24 hours of the Bid Opening!

Does DataBid include Project Documents, Plans and Specs?

When we can. If we can get the docs at no additional fee we will always attempt to do so. We are not a plan room and don't charge for the docs that we do list. In the event we don't have the project docs we will always put a link right on the project so they are always just a click away.

Does DataBid report on Public Projects?

DataBid has a Public Reporting Department that calls on EVERY single city, town, municipality, school board, government agency etc. We are in contact with over 1,000 public entities every single day so you don't have to. We weed thru all irrelevant bids and tenders like medical supply and paper shredding and only focus on the projects that you are looking for.

Does DataBid report on Private Projects?

DataBid's team of highly trained Private Reporters call on Owners, Architects, Engineers, Property Managers and GC's to find what they have in the works. We report on Office Buildings, Restaurants, Strip Centers, Condos, Medical Buildings, Big Box, etc. You name it... DataBid is looking for it!

What Areas or Regions does DataBid cover?

DataBid currently reports on projects located in Ontario, Canada and is broken down in three Regions (Southern - Toronto & Vicinity, Eastern - Ottawa & Vicinity and Northern - Thunder Bay & Vicinity). In the United States we cover the state of Illinois broken down into three Regions (Chicago & Vicinity, Northwestern Illinois and Central Illinois.) All pricing plans are for one Region. Additional Regions may be purchased for just $100 per region per quarter.

Do I need to keep my current service?

Simple answer is, it depends. No lead service is going to have 100% of ALL Public and Private projects. Some services require you to access project documents from their site in order to be eligible to bid. Check your current service terms and conditions.

What type of support comes with DataBid?

Phone and Chat support is included in your subscription fee. This provides a means for you to have your questions answered by DataBid customer support specialists. You also get your very own project concierge. Cant find a project? Need an up to the second bidders lists? Reach out during business hours and we'll put our editorial team on it and get you the information you need right away!
